PBMares announces the election of five new partners to the Firm.  Jennifer L. Bonsiewich, Lynn M. Eller, Shawn Middleton, Ryan B. Paul, and Jon-Michael “Jonny” Rosch were promoted to Partner, effective January 1, 2022.

Jennifer L. Bonsiewich, CPA
Norfolk, Virginia Office

Bonsiewich has over 17 years of public accounting experience. She specializes in tax planning and compliance, including international tax matters, for large, multi-state corporations in the construction, manufacturing / distribution and government contracting industries. In addition, she is well versed in providing tax planning and compliance for high net worth individuals and closely-held companies including experience working with the IRS and various states through audits and other correspondence.

Bonsiewich joined PBMares in 2018. Her past experience includes 12 years at a top 20 CPA firm where her knowledge and experience resulted in her rise to Senior Manager. In addition, she gained her early experience working with a sole proprietor for several years.

A Certified Public Accountant, Bonsiewich graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Accounting and Finance and a Master of Science in Accounting from Old Dominion University’s College of Business and Public Administration in Norfolk, Virginia. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants (VSCPA) and the Tidewater Chapter of the VSCPA. In 2017, she was named a Top 40 Under 40 by Inside Business.

Community leadership roles include serving as board Treasurer of the Downtown Norfolk Council and Vice President of the Hampton Roads Tax Forum. In addition, she gives her time to the Norfolk Sports Club, the Old Dominion Athletic Foundation and the Alumni Association.

Lynn M. Eller, CPA, APCIT, PFS
Fairfax, Virginia Office

Eller is a leader in the firm’s international tax practice. Her knowledge of the complex international tax areas has enabled her to be a program partner for the Virginia Leaders in Export Trade where she advises businesses expanding abroad. She has prepared numerous tax returns for nonresident aliens, U.S. residents that are eligible for the foreign earned income exclusion, and US residents who control foreign corporations. Obtaining the Advanced Professional Certificate in International Taxation (APCIT) designated by the International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation (IBFD) furthered her expertise in international tax not only from a U.S. perspective, but also from a worldwide view. She serves as a technical resource for international tax issues and presents seminars for her peers within PBMares.

Eller’s Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) credential indicates she has extensive expertise in assessing the tax implications of investments, retirement plans, insurance, and estate planning. In addition, her knowledge of the tax needs of owner-managed businesses has enabled her to be a trusted advisor for clients in the professional services, real estate, healthcare, and manufacturing industries. She seeks to assist business owners in realizing federal and state tax credits and incentives including the research and development credit, domestic production deduction and numerous state incentives.

A Certified Public Accountant, she is a graduate of Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. Eller is an active member of the AICPA and the VSCPA, where she helped found the International Tax and Business Special Interest Group for the Northern Chapter and coordinates CPE and networking for other CPAs.

Shawn Middleton, CPA
Newport News, Virginia Office

Middleton has 15 years of audit experience. She uses her experience to provide assurance services to the firm’s non-profit, governmental, for-profit, real estate and hospitality clients.

Middleton leads the firm’s Enterprise Zone Program team and assists clients in the application process. This includes helping assess their eligibility and, if they meet the requirements, performing an agreed-upon procedures engagement where she walks applicants through the submission process. Further, she performs a similar function for the Historic Tax Credit program.

A Certified Public Accountant, Middleton earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland Global Campus in College Park, Maryland. In addition, she earned her Master of Science in Accounting from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. She is a member of the AICPA, the VSCPA, the VSCPA Richmond Chapter and the Virginia Economic Developers Association. In addition, she is a past recipient of Virginia Business magazine’s “Super CPA” recognition in the Young CPAs category.

Ryan B. Paul, CPA
Rockville, Maryland Office

Paul’s specialty areas include real estate, I.R.C. code section 163(J), high net worth individuals and pass-through entities. His past experience includes serving a diverse group of clients, including small business owners, real estate partnerships, former politicians and diplomats, attorneys, doctors and engineers. At the industry level, he is an active member of the firm’s Construction & Real Estate Team. He also has served on the firm’s internal Emerging Issues Task Group.

Working in the DC Metro area has enabled him to develop deep connections in the community and to gain experience with countless clients who have afforded him the opportunity to grow personally and professionally. In his spare time, he participates in charitable activities through his active membership in the Knights of Columbus.

A Certified Public Accountant, Paul earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting (minors in history and operations management) from the University of Scranton in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He is a member of the AICPA, the VSCPA, the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants and the NAIOP Commercial Real Estate Development Association.

Jon-Michael “Jonny” Rosch, CPA
Warrenton, Virginia Office

Rosch acts as a trusted advisor to his not-for-profit clients by assisting them with complicated accounting and tax issues unique to the not-for-profit industry. His experience includes working with not-for-profit organizations, including those with Uniform Guidance requirements, public charities, social welfare organizations, trade associations, business leagues, non-profit childcare centers, private schools, independent research organizations and 527 political action committees.

Rosch’s service to the not-for-profit community extends beyond his professional responsibilities. He serves as Treasurer for the Board of Directors of Pathway Homes, a leading provider of housing and support services for adults with mental illness and co-occurring disorders across northern Virginia. He previously served on the Board of Directors for Leadership Fauquier.

A Certified Public Accountant, Rosch is a graduate of Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. Professional affiliations include the AICPA where he earned a not-for-profit certification, and the VSCPA where he served two terms on the Young Professionals Advisory Council and previously served as chair of the awards committee. He is also a member of FAR, the nonprofit business leaders’ network, the VSCPA Battlefield Chapter and the Greater Washington Society of CPAs. Rosch previously received the VSCPA’s top 5 under 35 award for his work with the VSCPA and his dedication to the not-for-profit community.
