On February 20, PBMares Risk Advisory Partner Antonina McAvoy spoke at the 18th annual Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP) Mid-South Atlantic Regional Conference (MSARC). Financial, IT, and Risk leaders from clubs, boutique hotels, and resorts come to the event each year for guidance and insights on industry challenges and best practices.
Antonina’s topic, Navigating the 2025 Cyber Threat Landscape: Proactive Strategies for Clubs, Hotels, and Resorts, focuses on top cyber threats and how businesses in the hospitality industry can mitigate risks. Specifically, Antonina’s session addresses how cybercriminals are targeting clubs, hotels, and resorts and how to understand cyber insurance policies; managing third-party and vendor risks; building a cyber-aware culture; leveraging internal controls; and implementing security measures like multi-factor authentication, endpoint security, and network segmentation.
As a leader in PBMares’ Risk Advisory practice, Antonina leads and performs a wide spectrum of cybersecurity reviews and assessments for hospitality, not-for-profit, healthcare, technology, construction, and government contractors. She holds two certifications from ISACA (formerly the Information Systems Audit and Control Association), two certifications from PCI Security Standards Council, and holds the AICPA’s Cybersecurity Advisory Services Certificate and the Cyber Operations Certificate from the Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education.
Antonina recently spoke at the 2024 Greater Washington Society of CPAs (GWSCPA) Nonprofit Symposium on risks facing not-for-profits.
