Financial Literacy | Support education initiatives, especially those that support financial literacy

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Virginia Peninsula
Coastal Region (New Bern | Morehead City | Newport News | Norfolk | Williamsburg | Wilmington)
We will host quarterly financial literacy workshops in our community for 300 youth (75 each quarter) and their families. Over 75% of youth served by our agency qualify for free and reduced lunch thus indicating they fall at or below poverty level. Many youth we serve have expressed they do not feel prepared to sustain and take care of themselves once they graduate and enter the world of financial responsibility.
Crystal Coast Autism Center

Funds provided by PBMares Cares will be dedicated to our Young Adult Life Skills Program. Within this program students are offered classes where various life skills lessons are taught dedicated towards their particular stage in life, financial management is a key lesson here. Classes spend time discussing managing money, budgeting, taxes, and various other financial literacy topics.
Central Piedmont Community Action, Inc.

PASS helps individuals and families increase income by supporting them with education/training, helping them obtain sustainable employment while learning to manage their finances. We help with everything from transportation to childcare to career counseling, housing to financial assistance.
Boys and Girls Homes of NC

BGHNC will provide a community Real World Event for under-represented participants to have access to resources in one location for life skills, education, health care and everyday enlightenment opportunities. Participants will engage in real world scenarios of personal budget management (including check cashing, housing, utilities, use of disposable income, and more).
StepUp Wilmington
Coastal Region (New Bern | Morehead City | Newport News | Norfolk | Williamsburg | Wilmington)
This grant will support the full range of programs encompassed in SUW’s redeveloped “CareerUp” program model, provided by a team of accomplished staff to guide a participant from unemployment, to stable employment, to career advancement and financial stability. SUW also assists adults with factors that impact economic stability such as childcare, housing, and transportation through referrals to 30+ agency partners.
Opportunity Scholars
Northern Region (Fairfax | Rockville)
Opportunity Scholars is an organization that helps youth from low and middle income families get an education and ultimately find a career where they will never again need financial social services. To date, we have coached about 600 kids since 2019.
Britepaths, Inc.
Northern Region (Fairfax | Rockville)
Britepaths’ Financial Empowerment Program provides the opportunity, tools, and resources for low and middle-income families to take control of their financial lives. Britepaths offers individual financial coaching, small group coaching, and deeper long-term financial help through one-on-one mentoring. Most services are delivered by professional volunteers who work or are trained in finance or related fields and coach clients to seek solutions to achieve long term financial independence.
The Arc of Northern Virginia

Empowering Employment and Independence program equips people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to secure employment and financial stability. Using our Arc2Independence app, which provides customizable Employment, Travel, Safety, and Daily Living Lessons, we equip people with IDD to more independently work, travel, manage money, and live more independently, especially when direct support and coaching is limited.
Cornerstones, Inc.

Cornerstones’ Pathways to Sustainable Employment (PSE) helps low-income community members obtain or maintain economic stability and create a path to self-sufficiency through access to workforce education, skills training, barrier reduction, and higher-wage employment opportunities. Pathways also provides referrals to a Community Case Manager to secure wrap-around services and programs for affordable housing, food, and healthcare as participants work toward securing a higher-paying, living-wage job.
